About VSX Atlas

Independent discovery and historical observations across the VS Code extension ecosystem.

Discover and compare extensions

VSX Atlas helps developers explore VS Code extensions, compare listings and follow changes over time. Search the catalog, browse categories and tools, explore rankings, and compare extensions across Visual Studio Marketplace and Open VSX Registry.

Where the data comes from

Our catalog uses public listing information from Visual Studio Marketplace and Open VSX Registry. Extension descriptions, publisher information and registry metrics originate from those sources.

Understanding the observations

Metrics reflect the data available when a collection was completed. The site is not a live mirror of either registry: updates can be delayed, listings can change or disappear, and collection gaps can occur. Historical charts cover the observations available to VSX Atlas, rather than the full lifetime of an extension.

Marketplace installs and Open VSX downloads are separate measures with different meanings. Compare them in their registry context. Rankings describe observed metrics; they are not an endorsement or a security assessment.

An independent project

VSX Atlas is independently maintained and is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by Microsoft or the Eclipse Foundation. Extension names, logos and other third-party materials belong to their respective owners.
